Through an initial focus on microfinance it has built substantial competencies and networks it now leverages across a wide range of industries, such as healthcare, education or agriculture. It also disseminates knowledge and fosters progressive ideas in the marketplace through its incubation program, of which IDG is a part.

Intellecap consultants work daily with their clients on a one-to-one basis to alleviate these weaknesses and build on strengths. They are engaged in handholding enterprises through the crucial final stages of raising risk capital; strengthening business plans, valuing enterprises and facilitating investments. IDG has the potential to bring scale to such services by employing technology to create, distribute and connect. IDG also builds on Intellecap's experience to accomplish its mission – to increase risk capital flows to social enterprises in the underserved "missing middle".
